Every year, 15 million babies are born prematurely – more than one in ten of all babies around the world. On the 17th November, all across the world people come together to raise awareness of premature birth and the devastating impact it can have on families.
There’s more than one way to help show your support. Here’s how you can help:
– Post on Social Media: to help spread the word using #WorldPrematurityDay
– Go Purple! Find your way to turn your world purple. By wearing purple socks, lighting a purple candle or wearing a purple hairband, stand in solidarity by wearing the colour that represents World Prematurity Day.
– Light Up The Night: Host a walk, take on a solo mission or join a walk that will light up the night sky for premature and sick babies. Grab your candles or glow sticks!
– #IWishIdKnown: Support the UK’s leading charity in babies born premature or sick, Bliss, in letting other parents know they are not alone. Share on social media what you wish someone had told you when you first arrived on the unit using #IWishIdKnown
